Thousands of youth have participated in the ICT4me curriculum, professional development, and assessment materials developed and co-owned by SRI International and Girls Incorporated of Alameda County. I’m the Founder and Director of ICT4me.
This curriculum encourages youth from underrepresented populations (girls, African American, and Latino/a youth) to consider careers in computing. ICT4me is an after school and summer youth-based curriculum for middle school youth to develop ICT (Information & Communication Technology) fluency, interest in mathematics, and knowledge of ICT careers.
ICT4me is a problem-based curriculum that capitalizes on youths’ interest in design and communication technologies. The curriculum provides structured interactions with ICT professionals, including having youth participate in engineering, design, and development teams showing them that computing careers involve collaborating with others to solve problems that help people. ICT4me is a sister program to Build IT.
